The “graying” faculty
The UW System Board of Regents will discuss its aging workforce at its monthly meeting Thursday. The faculty at UW-Green Bay is a part of the so-called “graying” trend. In fall 2007, 14.7 percent of full-time faculty were older than 60, versus 12.4 percent in 2006 and 10.6 percent in 2005. “I think it is a concern, because of two reasons,” Chancellor David Ward told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “One is a lack of supply of people in many fields — we don’t have as many people going into Ph.D. programs as we once did.
