Buzz builds ahead of Newhart’s Saturday show

Deadpan comedian, prolific entertainer and recent Emmy winner Bob Newhart will grace the Weidner stage Saturday (Nov. 23), bringing his signature brand of comedy to an audience likely to include young and old alike. Newhart may be 84, but his recent award-winning turn as Professor Proton on TV’s “The Big Bang Theory” has introduced the longtime actor to a whole new generation, the Press-Gazette’s Steve Kirchman writes. He spoke with Newhart recently, and had a fun preview story in Sunday’s (Nov. 17) newspaper.
