Hate crime sites featured in new exhibit at UW-Green Bay’s Lawton Gallery

The Lawton Gallery at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will feature a new exhibit with photographs by Paul Baker Prindle Thursday, March 3 to March 31.

The exhibit, “Mementi Mori” includes 14 large-scale works by Prindle that are part of a continuing series.

“Photographs from this series were made over the past three years as I visited sites across the United States where gay men and trans individuals had been murdered in what were later identified as hate crimes,” Prindle said.

The opening reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, with a talk by the curator at 5 p.m.

The Lawton Gallery, located inside Theatre Hall on the UW-Green Bay campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

The gallery will be closed March 14-19 for Spring Break.

For more information contact curator Stephen Perkins, (920) 465-2916. To view some of Prindle’s work visit www.paulbakerprindle.com.
