GREEN BAY (WLUK) — You can learn all about the green and gold’s most illustrious offensive weapons through a new course offered at UW-Green Bay.

Students and community members alike are invited to register for the virtual program, aptly titled “The Greatest Offensive Players in Green Bay Packers History.” It will explore three eras of offensive play: the Lambeau Era, the Lombardi and Beyond Era and the Modern Era.

Each era is comprised of three classes, for a total of nine sessions. The cost is $119. Participants will “attend class” on Wednesdays from 1-2:30 p.m. from Jan. 7 to March 4.

The instructor for the course is Brent Hensel, curator for the Packers Hall of Fame.

Lambeau Era: Sessions 1-3

These sessions will delve into the most storied offensive players from the Packers’ early years, such as Curly Lambeau, Lavvie Dilweg, Red Dunn, Johnny Blood and Don Hutson. It also celebrates pioneers of the pass, like Arnie Herber and Cecil Isbell, and tough hard-nosed runners, like Clarke Hinkle and Tony Canadeo.

Lombardi and Beyond Era: Sessions 4-6

These sessions explore the impact of Bart Starr, Paul Hornung and Jim Taylor, who combined for three NFL MVP awards. Although Green Bay struggled in the 1970s and 80s, the Packers still produced offensive fireworks thanks to their quarterbacks, Lynn Dickey and Don Majkowski, and the elite receiving talents of James Lofton and Sterling Sharpe.

The Modern Era: Sessions 7-9

The final three sessions of the course study two of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history — Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers — and all their stellar offensive teammates, such as running backs Edgar Bennett, Dorsey Levens and Ahman Green. Great receivers include Robert Brooks, Antonio Freeman, Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams.
