Marinette, Wis. – Bayshore Arts Center, located on the UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus, will stage four performances of “Armistice,” produced by Theatre on the Bay from November 6-9, 2025. The show is directed by local artist, Tony LaMalfa, written by Tony LaMalfa and John Thornberry. Purchase tickets for the show on the Bayshore Arts Center website.

About the show: It’s summer, 1917. America commits itself to defeat Kaiser Wilhelm’s German armies in the trenches of Europe. At home in Menominee, Michigan, the War Loyalty Board ramps up its campaign to collect war bond funds through Liberty Loan drives. The Beckers, a German farm family, struggle to navigate anti-German prejudice while keeping food on the table. And although Reverend Fritz Leonhardt opposes the war, most of his German congregation at Christ Lutheran Church supports it. Battle lines are drawn, driving wedges between families and friendships.

An armistice can end a war, but it cannot heal deep divisions or broken relationships. Can anything unite a community embroiled in both local and global conflict? And after peace is finally won, who still has the right to call themselves a “real American?”

“Writing Armistice with John took three years because the play is truly a labor of love, born from our shared fascination with local history,” said Director Tony LaMalfa. “The result is an engaging and emotional drama full of action, comedy, and romance—a story that invites audiences to experience our past vividly on stage, with moments that will make you laugh, tug at your heart, and stay with you long after the final scene.”
