MARINETTE — During last week’s Marinette County Board of Supervisors meeting, the county administrator discussed the future of the UW-Green Bay Marinette Campus buildings and how they may need to be razed. Information was also shared about the county’s strategic planning sessions.

County Administrator John Lefebvre attended a meeting on June 18 with the Association for Culture and Community LTD, a public non-profit corporation created initially to foster discussion about the fate of the UWGB Marinette Campus.

The non-profit has identified its top three concepts for redevelopment. Those include: a regional arts conservatory for students and elders, an expansion of Bayshore Arts Center or a Native American museum and meeting place.

“Most of these are ideas,” Lefebvre said, adding that an endowment fund should be set up for Bayshore Arts Center so that it can continue to live on while other decisions are made about he rest of the property.
