Congratulations to Stacie Christian!

Stacie Christian will be retiring from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on November 15, 2024, after an incredible 33 years of service to the university community.

Stacie began her journey at UW-Green Bay in 1991, initially as an adjunct faculty, stepping in to substitute for various faculty members. She continued in this role for three years, displaying her passion for teaching and commitment to student success.

In 1994, Stacie was appointed to a temporary instructional academic staff position, where she continued to serve UW-Green Bay until 2013. From 2013 to 2017, she held a temporary non-instructional appointment. However, it was in 2017 that Stacie truly began to make a lasting impact, when she was named the Director of the Pride Center. In 2022, she was appointed Assistant Vice Chancellor of Inclusive Excellence, a role she has held until her retirement.

Throughout her remarkable career, Stacie has been a champion for inclusion, equity, and social justice at UW-Green Bay. She has played an instrumental role in the development of key initiatives that have shaped the campus community. Among her many accomplishments are:

  • A founding member of the Pride Center in 2011, providing a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ students and allies.
  • The creation of the Inclusive Excellence Certificate Program, which has provided students, faculty and staff with valuable tools to promote inclusivity.
  • The establishment of SAIL (Safe and Inclusive Living) in campus housing, ensuring that all students feel welcomed and supported in their living environments.
  • The launch of the Campus Cupboard & Closet, helping students in need by providing food, toiletries and clothing.
  • The implementation of Safe Ally Training, fostering a campus culture of support and understanding for individuals of all identities.
  • She was awarded the Universities of Wisconsin P. B. Poorman Award in 2015 and 2022. The award recognizes outstanding achievement on behalf of LGBTQ People.

Stacie’s work has had a profound impact on the lives of countless students, faculty, and staff at UW-Green Bay. She has been a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, and her leadership will be deeply missed. Stacie has been a tireless force for positive change on our campus, and her legacy will continue to inspire the work we do for many years to come.
