MEDIA ADVISORY: Coach Wicks gets inked at first-ever “Pop-Up” Barbershop
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 1, 2023
Green Bay, Wis. – The NCAA basketball season is fast approaching, and the Green Bay Phoenix men’s basketball team and new head coach Sundance Wicks aren’t waiting for tip-off to take things to the next level.
On Thursday, November 2, they’re hosting a first-ever “Pop-Up” Barbershop community event, where the first 15 students in line will receive a complimentary haircut and Coach Wicks will be tattooed live at the event!
The “Pop-Up” Barbershop will be held at the Kress Events Center with haircuts provided by Starz Barber & Beauty of Green Bay. This event not only offers a unique experience to get students hyped for the upcoming season, but also is another example of Coach Wicks’ priority to strengthen the connection between student-athletes and the larger community in his first season at UW-Green Bay.
The event on November 2 runs 5 – 9 p.m., with Coach Wicks’ tattooing at 7 p.m.
For your coverage of the event, please let us know if you are interested in interviewing Coach Wicks to discuss the excitement around the basketball team this season and his priorities for the first season as head coach. Additionally, there will be interview opportunities at the event, both with Starz staff and UW-Green Bay students. Starz Barber & Beauty has a location in the University Union on the UW-Green Bay campus.
Please let Kristin know if you are interested in attending to cover by emailing her at bouchark@uwgb.edu.
