Pop-Con Returns to Brown County Library with R.L. Stine
Pop-Con returns to the Brown County Library’s Central Branch on October 7 with “Goosebumps” and “Fear Street” author R.L. Stine as the featured guest. Stine will be sitting down with UWGB professor Bryan Carr (Communication/Information Science) for a live episode of the Phoenix Studios podcast “Serious Fun” at noon and will be signing books from 1-3 p.m. Like everything else at Pop-Con, these events are free and open to the public, but they are first-come, first-served and seats will go fast! Carr will also host an episode with Midwestern-based power-pop music collective “The Shake Ups”, known for their cartoon and pop-culture-inspired songs, at 10:30 a.m.; they’ll perform live to close out the event at 3:00 p.m. Finally, “Serious Fun” returns once more as Carr welcomes fellow UWGB faculty Professor Chris Williams and Professor Juli Case of the Center for Games and Interactive Media to discuss the video games that defined the industry and our love of the medium, inviting the public to vote on and discuss their favorite “game changers”. Pop-Con is an all-ages, family friendly event! It is free and open to the public and also includes a costume contest and cosplay workshop, demonstrations of Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder, arts and crafts, tabletop gaming, food trucks, an artists’ alley with local artisans and businesses, appearances by local Star Wars cosplay troupe the Wisconsin Garrison of the 501st Legion, and so much more! Plus, UWGB’s Center for Games and Interactive Media and student radio station Radio GBX will be there – stop by and see all the cool work your students and colleagues are doing!
