The ’80s Broadway hit “Rock of Ages” is an early favorite among Weidner Center subscribers, the Press-Gazette’s Kendra Meinert reported in today’s (Thursday, July 25) column, and landing the show in the first place is “a bit of a coup.” Meinert caught “Rock” in Minneapolis a couple of years ago, and reports that it’s “about as much fun as you can have reliving the era without big hair, a mullet or a Bic lighter.” From throwback fashions to singing along — loudly — the “Rock of Ages” experience pays homage to the music of the ’80s in a big way, Meinert says. It’s just one component of a season that “has been smartly designed for variety — truly something for everyone, if you will,” the column says. The Weidner will “Rock” Feb. 23 — so there’s plenty of time for children of the ’80s to fish out the legwarmers and brush up on those Styx lyrics. Full column.
