FYI: TEAM + LTC = ATS

Exciting changes are coming your way as Information Services reshapes instructional technology support.  Telecommunications, Engineering and Media Services and the Learning Technology Center are joining forces to create Academic Technology Services. This group will provide end-to-end support of instructional technology from design and development through implementation and presentation in the classroom or online.  Media Services and the LTC currently collaborate on many projects.  The same great people and services our faculty and staff use and appreciate today will be available in a newly remodeled space in the Instructional Services Building.  The ATS staff will be able to work together even more effectively to support our campus instructional needs.  This fall, you will be greeted with a fresh new area in IS 1010.  Watch your email for more details as the project unfolds.  For the summer months, to accommodate remodeling, Media Services will temporarily move to IS 1020 while the LTC staff will relocate to IS 1004.  Phone numbers will remain the same.

Transition complete: Cofrin Library now one stop for media needs

The transition is now complete, and the Cofrin Library is your one-stop shop for media needs. Not only can you check out a book (paper or electronic), read a newspaper or journal, watch a video or listen to a CD, but the Cofrin Library is now also the spot to get your media equipment. If you need a laptop, projector, camera, camcorder… the media equipment collection is available for checkout whenever the Library is open.

Move of media equipment to library extends service hours

If you are looking to check out a laptop, LCD projector, digital camera, camcorder, or other media equipment, as of Monday (Jan. 23) you will be able to do so at the Cofrin Library. In order to provide more service hours, the media equipment collection has been moved from Media Services to the Cofrin Library.  The collection will now be available for check-out to faculty, staff and students an additional 40 hours per week. This change will also allow Media Services staff more time to provide their expertise on classroom support.  Media Services will still handle delivery of equipment to classrooms, such as computer and TV carts.

And iPads, too — “We are pleased to announce that iPads will also be part of the equipment collection,” the Cofrin Library reports.

Media equipment on the move

This is a reminder that the media equipment (laptops, projectors, digital cameras, etc.) is currently in the process of moving from Media Services to the Cofrin Library.  The equipment is currently unavailable while it is being processed by the Library.  We apologize for this inconvenience, but the equipment will be available again starting Friday, Jan. 20.
