On Thursday, March 28, 2019 from noon to 12:45 p.m. in the 1965 Room located in UW-Green Bay’s University Union, the Lunch n’ Learn will focus on the topic of backyard chickens. Have you ever wanted to learn more about raising backyard chickens? UW-Madison’s Division of Extension Agriculture Educator, Liz Binversie, will provide some tips and tricks to help start your own backyard flock. UW-Green Bay’s Monika Pynaker (IT) will also share a little about her experiences raising chickens! Feel free to bring your lunch to this interesting and fun presentation.
On Tuesday, April 2, 2019 from noon to 12:45 p.m. in the 1965 Room located in UW-Green Bay’s University Union, the Lunch n’ Learn will focus on the Bellin Run. Have you thought about walking or running in the Bellin Run, or maybe you have participated in the past? Linda Maxwell, Bellin Run assistant race director, presents “The Bellin Run: It’s not so scary (and is a WALK as well)!” Maxwell will share information about the perks of the Corporate Challenge (UW-Green Bay has been a member for years), talk about walking as a prime part of the event, and give basic event information and updates. The presentation should help you to feel more comfortable and confident competing in this event. Employees who attend will be entered in a drawing for a Bellin Run full-zip windbreaker (size medium)!
The Couch to 5K Lunch ‘n Learn will be taking place on Wednesday, Mar. 6, 2019 from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the 1965 Room located in UW-Green Bay’s University Union. Nate Vandervest, UW-Green Bay Assistant Cross County Coach, CSCS, CES, and former Division 1 cross country runner, has a passion for running and will be presenting this Couch to 5K lunch ‘n learn. He will cover a training plan, as well as common injuries and how to prevent them. Jolene Sell, Registered Dietitian with Chartwells, Wellness Committee member and avid runner, will discuss the right foods to eat as you train for a walk/run. The Myth of Cholesterol Lunch ‘n Learn will be held from noon to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 in CL 735. The webinar will discuss research that is shedding a new perspective on cholesterol and the culprit of heart disease. A wellness Lunch ‘n Learn next week will help you “Know Your Numbers.” The event is from Noon to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 in the 1965 Room of the University Union. It will provide valuable information regarding the annual biometric screening event on campus, April 18. You will learn about biometric measurements and lifestyle habits that affect them. Jane Lehman, Regional Business Development Manager for Prevea, and former health coach, will present useful information about cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body fat percentage, and BMI numbers. Attend the Lunch ‘n Learn next week, Noon to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, Room 103, University Union to learn more about Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) — partnerships between a farm and a local community of supporters that provides a direct link between the production and consumption of food. CSA members cover the farm’s operating cost by purchasing a share of the harvest. Members receive a healthy supply of locally grown, seasonally fresh produce throughout the growing season. Depending on the number of employees who sign-up to participate in this CSA, we could have the veggies brought to UWGB for pick-up once per week during the 15 week harvest season! More here.
