March madness begins this Phoenix Friday

This Friday (March 6) the Phoenix Bookstore is having a BOGOHO (buy one, get one half off) special. See store for details. Kristin Errett performs at 8 pm at Common Grounds Coffeehouse and the film “VHS Viral” is playing at Cheap Seats. Phoenix basketball returns on Saturday with the Green Bay women hosting Detroit in their final regular season game. They enter and host next week’s Horizon League Tournament, beginning Wednesday, March 11, as the No. 1 seed. Don’t forget the off-campus “Watch Party” for the Phoenix men, at 6 p.m. Saturday, at The Bar on Holmgren Way, with 35-cent wings if you wear your Phoenix gear. The No. 2 seeded men will play a semifinal contest against Oakland or UIC.

Phoenix Friday is also Go Red Day

This Phoenix Friday is also Go Red Day in support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign. Pick up some Phoenix gear at The Phoenix Bookstore to support the cause. You will receive a 15 percent discount on all items with red in either the item or the logo. Aviands is again offering a 10 percent discount to anyone wearing Phoenix gear on Friday. Also this Friday:

· For a humorous look at timeless classics, check out an all student cast and crew perform “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised]” at the University Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

· Olivia Millerschin, winner of the 2014 John Lennon Songwriting contest and known for her quirky music – her sassy tune “Screw Valentine’s Day” is getting attention – will be performing in the Common Grounds Coffeehouse at 8 p.m. courtesy of Good Times Programming. (We hear that she might do a guest performance on campus earlier in the day, as well.)

· Cheap Seats this weekend features the film “Dear White People” at 6:30 p.m. and 9:05 p.m. on Friday and continuing through the weekend.
