With forecast highs in the 30s the next few days, it just makes sense that the University Union is repeating its popular Get the Scoop promotion on Wednesday (Feb. 19). Starting at noon in Leona Clouds Commons, $1 will buy you a double-scoop cone of Zanzibar Chocolate, Vanilla, Cookie Dough, Cotton Candy or the intriguingly named Kitty Kitty Bang Bang.
Mix your ice cream with… a blood donation
Wait. That didn’t sound right. What we meant to say was that, along with Wednesday’s ice cream sale, also going on in that area is a Red Cross blood drive. The UW-Green Bay student athlete committee is hosting the drive just across the way from the ice cream stand, in the Phoenix Rooms. The hours are 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., so depending on when you donate, you can avail yourself of some $1 ice cream while you’re in the neighborhood. Walk-ups are welcome for the blood drive.
We’re told cold weather has kept people indoors and reduced blood donations for Wisconsin patients, and any blood they are getting is thick and sludgy. (Just kidding about that last part.) Anyway, the BloodCenter of Wisconsin tells us a UWGB Blood Drive is set for Tuesday (Jan. 28) in Phoenix Room B. You can reserve a time to donate at www.bcw.edu/UWGB — and direct any questions to Tony at (920) 901-0651 or Tony.Servais@bcw.edu.
Phoenix Athletics will co-sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 21) in the Phoenix Room of the University Union. No appointments needed; walk-ups are welcome. Questions? Contact student organizer Marissa Michalkiewicz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
