UW-Green Bay Concert Choir and Chamber Singers concert Dec. 8

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8 in Fort Howard Hall of the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.

The 54-member Concert Choir, conducted by Prof. Randall Meder with accompanist Mary Slavek, will perform several works including pieces by Felix Mendelssohn, Nurit Hirsch and Michael Praetorius.

“We are performing an eclectic mix of choral works, some a cappella and some with piano accompaniment,” Meder said. “There will be pieces sung in English, Latin, German, Hebrew and Spanish, ranging from the 16th century to the present.”

The Chamber Singers, conducted by Prof. Courtney Sherman with Michael Stefanek on piano, will perform pieces by Thomas Morley, Maurice Duruflé, Samuel Barber and René Clausen.

The small vocal ensemble is made up of 14 students from varying musical backgrounds.

“Some are music majors, but many are students from other parts of campus who have taken an interest in participating in musical ensembles while in college,” Sherman said.

Tickets are $7 for adults or $5 for students and seniors, and are available at the door, or in advance by calling (800) 328-8587 or online.
