UW-Green Bay Chorale, Concert Choir to join local artists for holiday concert

The UW-Green Bay Chorale and Concert Choir, together with the Green Bay Choral Artists, will present “Holidays Through the Centuries” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Cofrin Family (main) Hall of the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on the UW-Green Bay campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

The concert will include holiday classics from such composers as Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, G. F. Handel, Tomas Luis de Victoria, Michael Praetorius and more. Audiences can look forward to familiar favorites including “Lo! How a Rose E’er Blooming,” “Ding Dong! Merrily on High,” Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia” and various arrangements of “O Magnum Mysterium.” Other highlights will include “A Musicological Journey through the Twelve Days of Christmas” by composer Craig Courtney, and “In Dulci Jubilo” from the 14th century German (Harm. B. Gesius/J.S. Bach). The concert’s grand finale will feature the combined choirs with the University’s Phoenix Brass Ensemble, performing Daniel Pinkham’s “Christmas Cantata.”
