UW-Green Bay’s Good Times Programming presents Zach Wahls Sept. 20

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay students and the general public are welcome to attend “What Makes A Family?” featuring same-sex marriage advocate Zach Wahls at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 in the Phoenix Rooms of the University Union on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

Same-sex marriage will be a major issue in the upcoming election, and Wahls speaks passionately on that issue, as well as other topics. On Jan. 31, 2011, Wahls addressed the Iowa House Judiciary Committee in a public hearing regarding a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in Iowa. Wahls’ speech went viral on social media sites, and, by the end of the week, everyone wanted to hear more from the boy with two moms. He was just 19 years old at the time.

Admission for the event is free and open to the public. This event is sponsored by UW-Green Bay’s Good Times Programming, www.uwgb.edu/goodtimes. Media contact for the event is Karli Peterson, Public Relations Coordinator, (920) 465-2405 or petekj06@uwgb.edu.
