UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus to host Commencement, May 20

Marinette/Green Bay alumnus presents Commencement Address

Marinette, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Marinette Campus will hold its annual commencement ceremony on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 7 p.m. in the campus’ Herbert L. Williams Theatre. Fifty-six students earned two-year degrees from the Marinette Campus during the 2018-19 academic year, many of whom will be participating in the ceremony. Two international students also will be receiving completion certificates from Youth for Understanding, a non-profit educational organization serving more than 50 countries.

An alumnus of both the Marinette and Green Bay campuses, Romy Blystone, self-employed leadership consultant and mentor, will deliver the commencement address.

Blystone has worked with youth, and in particular, at-risk youth, since he was one himself, back in the late 1980s. After years of serving others as a consultant, coach, and mentor, Blystone began speaking professionally in 2014. Since then, he has presented more than 100 pep talks to parents, students, teachers, and staff across Wisconsin in an effort to build culture though character and leadership training.

His passion is to share truth, love others and offer hope. From his personal testimony to his 2016 certification as a Habitudes® Master Trainer, Blystone’s message rings true no matter where you come from… or where you are going.

He has a bachelor’s degree (’14, Interdisciplinary Studies) from UW-Green Bay with a self-directed emphasis in working with at-risk youth. Prior to that, he took coursework at UW-Whitewater and earned his Associate of Arts & Science Degree from the Marinette Campus.

Meghan Finger, a 2018 graduate of Peshtigo High School, has been selected to represent the Marinette Campus class of 2019 as its student speaker. Chau Pham, from Vietnam, will be the international student speaker.

UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus is located at 750 W. Bay Shore St., Marinette.
