Lewis Black coming to the Weidner Center Sept. 16
(Green Bay, WI) – The Weidner Center for the Performing Arts will welcome LEWIS BLACK to Green Bay for a live performance at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16.
Black, the prolific funny man, actor, author and stand-up comedian/ranter, will be live on stage as part of his “Running on Empty” tour. Black’s live performances provide a cathartic release of anger and disillusionment for his audience. Black yells so they don’t have to. He is a passionate performer who is described as “more pissed-off optimist than mean-spirited curmudgeon.” Lewis is the rare comic who can cause audience members to laugh themselves into incontinence while making compelling points about the absurdity of our world.
Black rose to national prominence through his appearances on “The Daily Show” in 1996. His appearances on “The Daily Show” led to four specials on Comedy Central. In 2001, he won the Best Male Stand-Up accolade at the American Comedy Awards. He has produced six comedy CD albums, including the 2007 Grammy-Award winning The Carnegie Hall Performance. Black recently won his second Grammy Award, for best comedy album, with his most recent CD, “Stark Raving Black.”
Black also has written two best-selling books, “Nothing Sacred” and “Me of Little Faith.” His book, “I’m Dreaming of a Black Christmas,” was released in November 2010.
