UW-Green Bay offering Spanish Immersion for Professionals summer course

Do you need to learn Spanish? The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Spanish Immersion for Professionals program can help.
Scheduled for Monday through Friday, Aug. 10-14, at the Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay, the program will provide an intensive language-learning experience in a resort setting. Registration is due by Friday, July 24.
The Spanish Immersion for Professionals program is designed with customer service representatives, call center employees, hospitality workers, social workers, bankers, teachers and health care workers in mind. Along with instruction in language and grammar, courses tailored to health care, education, business, law and leisure/travel will be offered.
Students will participate in language classes by skill level. Some English will be spoken in beginner classes. Intermediate and advanced class instruction will be entirely in Spanish. An online pre-test will determine a student’s skill level.
Each class day will end with a session on culture and current affairs in the Spanish-speaking world. In late afternoon and evening, participants can choose to join conversation tables hosted by native Spanish speakers, browse in a Spanish-language reading area stocked with books and magazines, and watch Spanish-language films. Optional evening activities will be available.
Fees for the program are $395 for noncredit instruction; $523.68 for two undergraduate credits in Spanish; or $814.04 for two graduate credits in education. The fees for all three include breakfast, lunch and breaks.
Lodging reservations must be made directly with Stone Harbor Resort. The room rate for the program is $119 single or double per night plus taxes. Reservations must be made before July 9 to qualify for the discount rate.
