UW-Green Bay offers Spanish Immersion for Professionals summer course

Necesita usted aprender Español?

Do you need to learn Spanish? The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Spanish Immersion for Professionals program can help.

Scheduled for Monday through Friday, Aug. 5-9, at UW-Green Bay, the program will provide an intensive language-learning experience for all levels of Spanish language learners. Registration is due by Monday, July 22.

The Spanish Immersion for Professionals program is designed for professionals such as customer service representatives, call center employees, hospitality workers, social workers, bankers, teachers and health care workers. Along with instruction in language and grammar, courses tailored to health care, education, business, law and travel and leisure will be offered. A substantial online resource component will be part of this program. Students will learn in UW-Green Bay’s high-tech classrooms and will enjoy meals in the University Union facilities.

Students will participate in language classes by skill level. Some English will be spoken in beginner classes. Intermediate and advanced class instruction will be entirely in Spanish. An online pretest will determine a student’s skill level.

Each class day will end with a session on culture and current affairs in the Spanish-speaking world. In late afternoon and evening, participants can choose to join conversation tables hosted by native Spanish speakers, and practice with each other over dinner.

Fees for the program are $400 for noncredit instruction; $689 for two undergraduate credits in Spanish; or $1,035 for two graduate credits in Education. The fees for all three include beverage breaks and lunch each day.

For out-of-town participants, an array of hotel venues is available in close proximity to campus. (See the program’s website for more details.)

Information and registration are available online at www.uwgb.edu/outreach/sip/summer/index.asp or by calling (920) 465-2775 or (800) 621-2313. On campus, information will be made available in registration materials.
