Opera Theatre Workshop is Friday

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will host an Opera Theatre Workshop at 7:30 p.m. Friday, (April 15) in the Jean Weidner Theatre, located in the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on the UW-Green Bay campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

UW-Green Bay Prof. Courtney Sherman will direct the workshop, which will also feature Emily Slavek, piano.

The concert will open with Act I of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, featuring Ryan Braatz, Kevin Kuhn II, Megan Fletcher, Farin Ludtke, Katherine Wilson, Kevin St. John and Lindsay Cummings.

Angel Campbell, Nicole Duhaime and Angela Danowski will perform Act II, Scene 2 from Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck.

The finale from Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods will be performed by Alyse Delie, Ryan Braatz and Angel Campbell.

Erin Zimmermann, Molly LeCaptain and Alyse Delie will perform “Some Things are Meant to Be” from Little Women by Jason Howland.

After a brief intermission, Molly LeCaptain and Megan Fletcher will perform a piece from Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. That will be followed by two Mozart pieces featuring Alex Stensaas, Molly Sabel and Chelsea Crevcoure.

The show will close with Lindsay Cummings, Bobby Buffington and Molly LeCaptain performing “Coffee” from I Love You Because, and Katherine Wilson, Chelsea Crevcoure and Kevin Kuhn II singing “My Own Best Friend” from Chicago.

Tickets for the Opera Theatre Workshop are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased in advance through UW-Green Bay’s University Ticketing Service by calling (920) 465-2400 or by visiting the University Ticketing and Information Center in the University Union.

This is the thirtieth concert of the 2010-11 season.
