200 High School Juniors to particpate in ‘College Draft Day’ at the Lambeau Field Atrium, Friday, April 27

Event includes presentation by Green Bay Packers Kicker Mason Crosby

Green Bay, Wis. — High school juniors from the Green Bay metro area will be participating in an interactive college learning event — “College Draft Day powered by UW-Green Bay” — at Lambeau Field Atrium Friday, April 27, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event will engage students in activities, student panels and information booths to clarify the college process and encourage higher education options. In addition, representatives from the UW Colleges campuses located in Marinette, Manitowoc and Sheboygan will be present to explain options for beginning the college experience at those campuses. Students will hear from special guest speaker, Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby.

“UW-Green Bay is offering this innovative program in collaboration with the Green Bay Packers as a great way to encourage students to be engaged decision-makers in their college choice,” says UW-Green Bay Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, Jennifer Jones. “The college experience is so much more than what you read on a website, and Draft Day is going to show students exactly how much more it can be.”

The 200 high school juniors, who registered through their high school guidance offices, are from Bay Port, NEW Lutheran, Green Bay West, Green Bay Preble, Oneida Nation, Green Bay East, De Pere and Green Bay Southwest. The activities and atmosphere will be football themed. UW-Green Bay “student coaches” will lead teams of students, while referees will move activities along with whistles, and students will have opportunities to win prizes such as footballs and autographed Packers memorabilia.

“The junior year is a crucial time for high school students and an experience like this one has the potential to motivate those students who are unsure about their post-secondary plans or may not have familiarity with college life,” says Adam Petasek, school counselor for Preble High School. “The number of students who have expressed interest has already exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to seeing everything the event has to offer!”
