UW-Green Bay College Draft Day at Lambeau Field returns, Friday, April 22

Local high school students engage in college preparation and fun, concluding with an interactive experience with homegrown Green Bay Packers player, Cole Van Lanen

Green Bay, Wis.—Following a two-year hiatus, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will be hosting College Draft Day at the Lambeau Field Atrium (fourth floor), April 22, 2022, from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. More than one hundred local high school students will have the opportunity to participate in the free event and be inspired by homegrown Green Bay Packers player, Cole Van Lanen, a graduate of Bay Port High School.

College Draft Day is designed to increase awareness of higher education options among local first-generation and historically underrepresented students and provide a memorable experience through fast-paced, hands-on activities such as Jeopardy, bag toss and tabletop field goals at legendary Lambeau Field.

Attending schools: Marinette, Manitowoc Lincoln, Luxemburg-Casco, Green Bay East, Green Bay West, Preble, Green Bay Southwest, John Dewey Academy of Learning and NEW School of Innovation.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about applying for college and financial aid, as well as what it is like to be a college student. Each participant will have the chance to connect one-on-one with an admissions counselor. The day will conclude with “letters of intent,” signed by participants and Van Lanen, and a photo with Van Lanen, memorializing the students’ intent to invest in themselves through higher education.

“We are so excited to be able to offer the Draft Day program once again,” says UW-Green Bay’s Executive Director of Admissions, Rachele Bakic. “We join with the Packers in recognizing that learning never stops. This is an incredible opportunity for high school students to explore higher education through interactive and dynamic activities and to continue their path to never stop learning.”
