UW-Green Bay Theatre & Dance presents staged reading as part of World Premiere Wisconsin

Green Bay, WI — The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Theatre & Dance will present a staged reading of You Don’t Deserve to Die, a new play by Wisconsin born playwright, Art Kopische. The reading will take place on Saturday, March 25 at 7:30pm in the Jean Weidner Theatre, The Weidner. The event is a part of World Premiere Wisconsin, a state-wide festival celebrating new plays and musicals.

You Don’t Deserve to Die is an absurd look into the lives of five liberal arts students struggling to run a vegan co-op amid differences in philosophy and food ethics, but, their efforts to change the world are thwarted at their fatal “Earth Day Party”. Playwright and Milwaukee/Door County native, Art Kopischke, is currently based in New York and is a graduate of Bard College with a BA in Theatre & Performance and Brooklyn College with a MFA in Performance and Interactive Media Arts. Their plays have been developed by HERE Sublet Series: Co-op, Egg & Spoon Theatre, Playthings Theatre, Skeleton Rep, Third Avenue Playhouse, Invited Dress, The Bechdel Group, and the Cold Read and they are always producing work with their art collective, Smear Campaign and comedy duo MA’AM. Kopischke will be workshoping their play with UW-Green Bay Theatre and Dance students throughout the week of March 20th as well as attending the reading on March 25th. Following the reading, a moderated talkback with Kopischke will take place.
