Non-credit aviation course offered through UW-Green Bay

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is partnering with Space Education Initiatives and Tailwind Flight Center to offer the course “Aviation and Aerodynamics for Private and Sport Pilots.”

This is a non-credit course to help students understand the aerodynamic principles and physics of powered flight as well as to evaluate the exciting field of aviation as a career or hobby.

This course prepares students for successfully passing the Federal Aviation Administration’s private pilot or sport pilot written exam. Upon completion of the 8-week course students will receive an endorsement to take the FAA Private Pilot or Sport Pilot Knowledge Test. There is no required prerequisite for this course.

The course fee does not include the fee of taking an FAA Knowledge Test. It will meet each Tuesday from 7-9 p.m., beginning April 6, through May 25 at Tailwind Flight Center at Austin Straubel Airport in Green Bay. Enrollment is limited to 20 students.

The registration fee is $360 for private pilot and $330 for sport pilot. The registration fee includes a complete kit of books and supplies.  Students must specify their choice for private or sport pilot track upon registration, and will receive the appropriate kit the first night of class.

Register before March 29 at www.uwgb.edu/educationoutreach/html/0693NC.htm, or contact the UW-Green Bay Outreach Office at 920-465-2480 or 1-800-621-2313.
