12 students selected to perform at UW-Green Bay Honors Recital

Green Bay, Wis.—The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Music program will hold its annual Honors Recital on Saturday, February 8 at 2 p.m. at Fort Howard Hall in UW-Green Bay’s Weidner Center for the Performing Arts. This year’s recital will feature 12 outstanding music students from across the state of Wisconsin and one international student. Admission to the recital is free and open to the public.

Of the 12 students participating in this year’s Honor Recital, five are vocalists and seven are instrumentalists. Pieces to be performed are from great artists such as George Frideric Handel, Johann Strauss, and Francesco Durante, among others. Student vocalists participating in the recital are:

  • Brooke DeGoey, soprano, a K-12 Choral/General Music Education major and graduate of Freedom High School. DeGoey is the daughter of Joseph DeGoey of Menasha, Wis. and Vicky Verbeten of Freedom, Wis.
  • Chay Austyn Schmitt, soprano, a Theatre Studies major/Vocal Performance minor and a graduate of Richland Center High School. Austyn is the daughter of Gregg and Christine Schmitt of Richland Center, Wis.
  • Eloise Williamson, soprano, a Vocal Performance major and graduate of North Crawford High School. Williamson is the daughter of Rita Berkley Smith of Wittenburg, Wis.
  • Julia Kreitzer, mezzo-soprano, a Business Administration major minoring in Vocal Performance and a graduate of West Bend East High School. Kreitzer is the daughter of Bob and Carol Kreitzer of West Bend, Wis.
  • Aygul Garryyeva, soprano, a Vocal Performance major and international student from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Garryyeva is the daughter of Begli Garryyeva and Bahar Pirova of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Student instrumentalists participating in the recital are:

  • Jayce Gorski, alto saxophone, an undeclared junior and graduate of West De Pere High School and the son of Amber Kouba of De Pere, Wis.
  • Rachel Rabas, trombone, a Psychology major with minors in Music Performance and History and a graduate of Denmark High School. Rabas is the daughter of Greg Rabas of Denmark, Wis. and Theresa Heggeland of De Pere, Wis.
  • Katie Warpinski, piano, a Human Biology major minoring in Music Performance and a graduate of Green Bay Preble High School. Warpinski is the daughter of Rick & Heidi Warpinski of Green Bay, Wis.
  • Tony Fenner, percussion, a Music Education major and graduate of Oak Creek High School. Fenner is the son of Ronald and Amy Fenner of Oak Creek, WI.
  • Ethan Christiansen, marimba, an Instrumental Performance major and graduate of Roncalli High School. Christiansen is the son of Troy and Lynn Christiansen of Two Rivers, Wis.
  • Kameron Jennings, trumpet, a Music Education major and graduate of Poynette High School. Jennings is the son of Jason and Karen Jennings of Poynette, Wis.
  • Victor Tec Cob, violin, a Music Performance major and graduate of De Pere High school. Tec Cob is the son of Rene DeLeon and Lorena Tec Cob of De Pere.

Students for the Honors Recital were chosen by faculty members during a juried selection process.
