Pianist Severtson to present UW-Green Bay faculty recital Jan. 29

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Assistant Prof. David Severtson will present a faculty piano recital at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29 in Fort Howard Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.

Severtson, an assistant professor of Arts and Visual Design (music), coordinates the piano program at UW-Green Bay. He teaches studio piano lessons, keyboard musicianship, first-year ear training and Survey of Western Music. He also maintains an active performing career as a solo and collaborative artist, and has appeared on Wisconsin Public Radio, given a featured performance with the Green Bay Civic Symphony, and been featured in a duo recital with cellist Wendy Warner. His research has focused on 19th and 20th century French and German music.

During the Sunday concert, Severtson will play 24 Preludes, Op. 34, by Dmitri Shostakovich. After a brief intermission, he will perform Sonata in B-flat major, K.333, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Admission is free for Severtson’s recital, the 19th concert of the 2011-12 UW-Green Bay Music season. The University is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
