For Super Bowl 50, NFL copies UW-Green Bay concert (sort of)

Some of you might remember the role UWGB played in a November 2010 concert of NFL Films music at the Meyer Theatre in downtown Green Bay. Music faculty members Kevin Collins and John Salerno, along with communications staffer and NFL fan Christopher Sampson, were the fundraiser’s lead organizers. Collins’ student Wind Ensemble and an alumni jazz band pulled together by Salerno joined the Civic Symphony of Green Bay in a tribute to football-music composer Sam Spence. It was a great night, as the nearly 1,000 people in attendance could attest. It was with some interest, then, that we noticed the San Francisco Symphony is partnering with the NFL on a similar concert during the February run-up to Super Bowl 50.
