Student earns Space Grant art commission

The art program and the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium announced Thursday (Dec. 10) that senior Matthew Yahnke is the winner of the 2010 Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium Art Commission. ‘Life and Work on the Moon’ was the announced theme; members of the art faculty and the WSGC reviewed proposals and portfolios from various UW-Green Bay art students. The award goes to Yahnke for his proposed acrylic and screen print on canvas concept, ‘Moon Walk.’ He will receive up to $500 for materials and $1,000 when the painting is installed in Environmental Sciences 301, the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium office suite. Yahnke is scheduled to graduate in May 2010 with a double major in art and Design Arts. He plans to attend graduate school in art. Yahnke will install his completed painting during spring break 2010; an unveiling reception will be held the following week.
