Reminder: Kwanzaa celebration is this Saturday

Join organizers for the Kwanzaa Celebration, Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Phoenix Room of the University Union. Kwanzaa is an African-American celebration based on the tradition of the African harvest festival emphasizing community and cultural pride. Enjoy music, dancing and food and learning about the holiday’s origins, rites and symbols. This year’s celebration focuses on Imani principle, which is faith. The guest keynote speaker is Ajamou Butler from Milwaukee, Wis. who will share his story of faith and Heal the Hood MKE. In addition, music and dancing will be from Nefertari Dance Company. This dynamic group involves community participants from age 3 to 18. This is a free, public event and light lunch and refreshments will be provided while supplies last. The event is sponsored by the American Intercultural Center, Black Student Union, Office of Student Life and Diversity Task Force.
