FT shooting: We’re No. 1

The Phoenix men’s basketball team is on a pace that, by basketball standards, is pretty amazing. It’s winning games, yes — the team is 4-2 after last night’s 57-46 win over Wright State — but it’s the shooting accuracy that stands out. Green Bay now stands No. 1 in the nation in free-throw shooting percentage, at 86 percent, which is phenomenal. The top shooter is Mike Schachtner, at 97 percent (31-of 32), but his next five teammates are nearly as good: 17-19… 11-13… 20-24… 24-29… 20-26. There’s a lot of season left to go, but the all-time record is 82.2 by Harvard over the 1983-84 season.
