New strategy for Vets 4 Vets Club involves helping local family

In previous years the UW-Green Bay Vets for Vets Club has collected donations to fill care packages for military personnel on active duty. With fewer students “down range” (deployed), the club is doing something different this holiday season. The UW-Green Bay club is teaming with its counterparts at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College to assist a family in need. The veteran student’s family has experienced a recent job loss, and with three children (a boy, 15; and girls 8 and 7), would likely welcome some holiday generosity. Veterans services adviser Elaina Koltz shares word that student veterans here and at NWTC would like to give the family gift cards for needed items such as groceries, clothes and gas. Gifts should be dropped off with Koltz in the Financial Aid Office, SS 1203. Checks can be made out to Student Veterans of America NWTC Chapter. If you plan to help, please have your gifts in no later than Thursday, Dec. 18. If you would like more information, contact Elaina at koltze@uwgb.edu or 920-465-2065.
