Big win for Phoenix women; Badgers are up next, here on Thursday

The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team held off a late charge by Minnesota (1-1) to win the Best Buy Classic 79-75 at Williams Arena on Sunday. The Phoenix led by as many as 16 with under 12 minutes to play before Minnesota narrowed the gap. The Phoenix faces another Big Ten challenge this Thursday night (Nov. 18) when the women host in-state rival Wisconsin (2-0) in the home opener at 7 p.m. at the Kress Events Center.


For men, Marquette awaits

The Brian Wardle Era at UW-Green Bay opened with a stellar defensive performance and a one-sided 75-36 victory over Division II Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday. A tougher challenge awaits this Wednesday (Nov. 17) with a trip to Milwaukee to face Wardle’s alma mater. The Phoenix tips off at 8 p.m. vs. Marquette at the Bradley Center.
