Campus mourns passing of Richard ‘Dick’ Sherrell

Members of the campus community learned this week of the recent passing of Richard E. (Dick) Sherrell. He passed away peacefully on Oct. 24, 2017, at Kendal-Crosslands, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. He was a theatre professor and served as Secretary of Faculty from 1985 to 1993. Jun 1977, Sherrell, RichardHe was a member of the UWGB Retirees Association. Sherrell’s UW-Green Bay tenure began in 1972 with an appointment as associate professor in the Concentration of Communication-Action and as Director of the National Center for Innovative Higher Education. He retired in 1993 and was granted emeritus status as professor in Communication and the Arts. He taught courses in theatre, with an emphasis on history and criticism; he led study abroad trips to London and he taught extended degree courses and supervised independent studies. He served on many committees and in many governance roles.

He acted and directed in community theatre, and led the UW-Green Bay Theatre department through many productions (several of which he also acted in). You can read his full obituary here.
