Kristy Aoki receives regional recognition for work with international students

Congratulations to Kristy Aoki for being recognized with the Patti Jones Award for Outstanding Leadership in Region V of the Association of International Educators (NAFSA). Region V consists of the states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois. Aoki, now an academic advisor served previously for the University as assistant director for International Student and Scholar Services.

In recognizing her work, NAFSA said, “Kristy’s contributions to the region and the field are numerous. Kristy has served Region V in various roles including the chair stream and conference planner for 2019. Additionally, Kristy has also served at state and national levels within the Wisconsin Association of International Educators and as a NAFSA Regional Affairs Committee Chair. Kristy’s work and support is valued at local and national levels and we are excited to honor her with this award in 2020.”

The Patti Jones Award for Outstanding Leadership in Region V is named in honor of Patti Jones (Western Illinois University), who has provided many years of service to Region V and the Region V team. The award is presented in recognition of outstanding leadership, contributions, and dedication to Region V, the regional leadership team, and to the internationalization of American higher education
