Compost collection coming soon to offices & events near you!

In 2020, the UW-Green Bay Student Government Association sponsored the installation of a composter behind the University Union to compost pre and post-consumer food waste from the dining hall. Since then, over 130,000 pounds of food waste has been diverted from landfills, thereby reducing methane emissions and returning nutrients to compost that’s free to the community.

In 2022, Professor David Voelker and students in his GPS class worked with the Sustainability Office, the University Union, Housing & Residence Life, and SGA to pilot and launch Campus Compost Collection (C^3) in housing on-campus.

Coming soon in 2023, the University Union and Sustainability Office are building on these successes to start offering compost collection at select catered events. In addition, they’ll begin offering compost collection to faculty/staff offices.
