Grant to education to strengthen the child care workforce

Associate Prof. Tim Kaufman (Education) and student-academic records coordinator Amy Bartelme (Education), along with colleagues from NWTC, were recently awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA). The grant will provide college students with more options through the development of an online bachelor’s degree with an early childhood education emphasis. There is potential for implementation in fall 2017. It was one of five innovation grants awarded to support the professional preparation of early childhood teachers. The UW-Green Bay/NWTC grant will improve the articulation for students between NWTC’s early childhood education program and a bachelor’s degree at UW-Green Bay with an emphasis in early childhood education. This effort is aimed at strengthening the bachelor’s prepared workforce in the field of early childhood education throughout the state of Wisconsin.
