Social Justice Club hosting showing of “When They See Us”
The Social Justice Club invites you to their two-part showing of “When They See Us” on October 8 and 15, 2019 in the Christie Theatre starting at 5 p.m. “When They See Us” is a powerful vehicle for starting conversations about youth justice and racial injustice. They are presenting this topic in collaboration with the Campaign for Youth Justice.
The Campaign for Youth Justice is a national initiative focused entirely on ending the practice of prosecuting, sentencing and incarcerating youth under the age of 18 in the adult criminal justice system. Aprill O. Turner will be flying in from D.C. to attend the Part One showing on October 8 and lead the discussion afterward.
Aprill O. Turner is a public relations professional with nearly 20 years of experience working with non-profit and corporate clients, as well as elected officials, in the areas of political and communication strategy, message development, media training, crisis communications and public affairs. Currently, Aprill is Communications Director for the Campaign for Youth Justice, where she leads media strategy to elevate the issue of prosecuting youth in adult criminal court, ensuring that the voices of those affected by the issue are front and center in the national media and in key media outlets across the country.
Food and drink will be provided. Please RSVP to sosocialjustice@uwgb.edu.
