Donation to Katie Hemauer Memorial Scholarship comes with salsa perk
UW-Green Bay SOFAS Steve Meyer has worked the past three weekends on making 263 pints of homemade salsa. A donation to the Katie Hemauer Memorial Scholarship comes with the homemade salsa perk. “While I probably have just one more weekend of salsa making to go, my office is currently fully stocked with mild, medium and hot salsa.” Meyer suggests it might fit the bill for an upcoming Packers party or other social engagement.
“I am generally on campus daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., feel free to email me so we can satisfy your salsa craving. Again, thank you very much for your support through the years,” he said.
This year the endowed Katie Hemauer Memorial Scholarship will yield a $1,200 scholarship to some deserving student. Hemauer was an exceptional student and Meyer was a friend and mentor. She was killed in November 2005 in a car accident as the result of someone driving while intoxicated. Meyer established the scholarship in her memory in 2014 to support future generations of students who shared her curiosity of the natural environment and commitment to campus and community.
