Retiree Association July 2022 Picnic

Clif Abbot and Jerry at the retirees summer picnic

After a two-year absence of the annual September retiree dinner due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UW-Green Bay Retiree Association held a cookout/picnic on July 21, 2022. More than 50 retirees and their spouses gathered at the Weidner Center for Performing Arts for a social hour followed by a picnic buffet. President Dan Spielmann’s remarks included the transfer of scholarship money by Ceil Hintz (a former employee in Academic Advising) to the retiree scholarship account, making the balance $91,000. The 2021-22 scholarship recipient was Elsie McElroy, who received an award of $1,700. There was a Retiree Board of Director’s annual update and approval of the slate of new board members. Carol Emmons discussed a special retiree opportunity at the STEM Innovation Center, which included a tour of the facilities with an opportunity for a small take-home project. Our guest speaker for the evening was Chancellor Alexander. He discussed UW-Green Bay and adapting to the future of higher education and the needs of the region. Check out the photo gallery.
