Gallery: New flagpoles up at Lambeau Cottage

UW-Green Bay facilities crew members put up the two nautical flagpoles — given by the family of the late Craig Mueller — on the campus bayshore at Lambeau Cottage.

The flagpoles are a tribute to Captain Craig A. Mueller, a UW-Green Bay alumnus, friend and supporter, who passed away in mid-2007.

Mueller donated $1 million to his alma mater to start a scholarship endowment in his name. That gift, the largest ever for the UW-Green Bay scholarship fund and largest by an alumnus, makes scholarships available annually to students enrolled in both the Arts and Visual Design and Communication academic units.

Mueller was both an airline pilot and avid sailor. The class of ’71 grad supported UW-Green Bay with a dollar-for-dollar match in the alumni phone-a-thon, and helped fund the restoration of the historic Lambeau Cottage.

The two mast-like flagpoles, which will soon be complemented by an array of flags, overlook the bay of Green Bay, where Mueller spent countless hours sailing.
