UW-Green Bay grad Bennett ’92 has hand in USA’s under-19 championship

The United States won gold Sunday at the FIBA U19 World Championships, beating Serbia 82-68. The team, coached by Florida’s Billy Donovan and assisted by VCU’s Shaka Smart and Virginia’s Tony Bennett (a 1992 Humanistic Studies graduate of UW-Green Bay), went 9-0 in the tournament played in Prague, Czech Republic. The tourney marked Bennett’s fourth appearance with USA Basketball, and his second time as a coach. In seven games as a member of the 1991 USA Pan American Games team, Bennett led the USA in assists and was second in steals.
