UW System issues statement on Supreme Court’s Fisher ruling

In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the matter of Fisher v. the University of Texas, and speculation on what the seemingly narrow ruling will mean for admissions policies nationwide, UW System Administration has issued a statement. President Kevin Reilly said late Monday, “Today’s decision does not appear to have immediate implications for our freshman admissions policy, or the manner in which that policy is applied at each UW campus. We will continue to follow the case with interest. In the meantime, we remain committed to enrolling a diverse student body using a comprehensive, individualized process, in a manner that conforms to the law.” To see the UW System’s Freshman Admissions Policy, adopted in 2007, go to www.uwsa.edu/bor/policies/rpd/rpd7-3.htm.
