Sass shines at Shakespeare Festival

Our university magazine, Inside 360°, recently carried a story about a graduate of UW-Green Bay’s Theatre program getting the chance to direct on Broadway. Well, just a week later, we see another Theatre grad turned director is hitting it big, this time on the West Coast. Joel Sass, Class of 1989, is garnering excellent reviews for his direction of the U.S. premiere of the David Farr play “The Heart of Robin Hood.” The play is one of the non-Bard entries at the annual and highly respected Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Sass, also featured previously in Inside, practices his art on a regular basis with the Jungle Theater and Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. If you’re interested a review of his revisionist Robin Hood (“Sass propels things at the breakneck pace of melodrama…”), click here to read more.
