Walker talks tuition freeze during campus visit Tuesday

Gov. Scott Walker visited UW-Green Bay Tuesday (June 4), reiterating his support for a two-year UW System tuition freeze during a press conference in MAC Hall. Introduced by Chancellor Tom Harden and joined at the lectern by two students, Walker praised the proposed freeze as “one of the most positive aspects of this budget,” emphasizing the value of higher education but underscoring the tough economic times for students and families trying to pay for school. He also addressed the issue of UW System reserves, acknowledging the need for holding money in reserve but saying that greater transparency is needed at the state level.
