Services Friday for friend, former Chancellor’s Award honoree Pat Hinckley

Patricia M. Hinckley, who with her husband Dr. Jim Hinckley long ranked among the most enthusiastic and loyal supporters of UW-Green Bay, died Sunday at age 67 after a battle with cancer. “We will miss her dearly,” said Chancellor Tom Harden upon hearing of her passing. “She was a wonderful friend and supporter of this institution and our students. More than that, she was a good and kind person who connected with people on a personal level and was always there to help others.” Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (May 22), when a parish wake service will take place followed by sharing of memories. There will also be visitation hours starting at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howard, until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Pat Hinckley’s relationship with UW-Green Bay began when her family relocated to Green Bay and she returned to school here to supplement her master’s degree preparation with secondary education certification at UW-Green Bay. I. She was a teacher of the year and Golden Apple winner at Ashwaubenon High School, where she was also the gifted and talented coordinator. Pat was a member of the Board of Directors of the UW-Green Bay Founders Association and was active as a board officer with the local chapter of the American Association of University Women. She was an avid fan and benefactor of UW-Green Bay Athletics, especially the Phoenix women’s basketball team. She is survived by her husband, three children, grandchildren and other family.
