dickmans-craig-copyChancellor Gary L. Miller has selected Craig Dickman, Class of 1982, as the 2015 recipient of the Chancellor’s Award, the University’s highest community honor.

The award recognizes Dickman for his exemplary commitment in service to campus and community. It will be presented during the University’s spring commencement ceremony starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday (May 16) at the Kress Events Center on campus.

Founder and CEO of Breakthrough Fuel in Green Bay, Dickman has served since 2012 on the UW-Green Bay Council of Trustees and Foundation Board, giving back to his alma mater through both advocacy and philanthropy.

He chairs the Trustees advocacy subcommittee and has been an energetic and effective leader in energizing additional support for UW-Green Bay and persuading civic and elected officials to fully value the institution’s role in regional growth.

Dickman and his wife, Karen, have given generously to University initiatives including those that serve the school’s sizeable population of students who are military veterans or reservists. They established an annual scholarship for veterans and donated resources to help create the new At Ease veterans lounge in Mary Ann Cofrin Hall.

An active member of the community, Dickman serves as president of the Brown County Harbor Commission, which oversees the Port of Green Bay. He has also been involved with Downtown Green Bay, Inc., the United Way, Greater Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bay Valley Lacrosse Association. He was previously chairman of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a Class A professional baseball team, and was instrumental in securing Milwaukee Brewers affiliation. He held elected office with the Green Bay City Council and Brown County Board of Supervisors.

Dickman’s visionary approach to supply-chain logistics and fuel cost management has made his company an indispensible partner to some of American industry’s biggest brands, including Whirlpool, John Deere, Ace Hardware and Georgia-Pacific. Breakthrough Fuel partners in analyzing their fuel costs using advanced metrics and software to reduce both shipping costs and admissions. Dickman is the inventor responsible for multiple patents related to energy management.

A native of Oshkosh, Dickman is a graduate of UW-Green Bay’s program in Business Administration. He had more than two decades of experience in the transportation industry before founding his own firm, serving previously as a vice president for information technology for Schneider National and as president and CEO of Paper Transport, Inc.
