Architect selected for Rose Hall and Wood Hall remodeling project

Here’s a progress report on the state’s plans for the long-overdue remodeling of the 35-year-old Rose Hall/Wood Hall complex at UW-Green Bay: The project moved forward in April with the selection of Berners-Schober Associates, Inc., of Green Bay as architect/engineering consultant. The project will renovate about 37,000 square feet of space in the two buildings, updating outdated facilities, increasing functionality and refurbishing both offices (about 16,000 sq. ft. of assignable space) and general-access classrooms (11,000 sq. ft.). Portions of both buildings will remain occupied during construction, which is scheduled to begin in June 2010. Full occupancy is expected by August 2011. (Funds for the project were provided in the state’s 2007-09 capital budget; the State Building Commission approved planning and design work last November. As a capital project, already under way, this project and others like it statewide are funded by long-term bonding that remains largely unaffected by the current economic downturn.)

Campus, community will have say in Rose/Wood work next fall

UW-Green Bay administrators will meet this month to evaluate current classroom usage data and determine appropriate classroom sizes to be included in the renovation of Rose and Wood halls. Faculty, staff and student involvement in the planning process is anticipated for the fall 2009 semester.
