Service learning presentations
Prof. Lora Warner invites the campus and community to attend her students’ service learning presentations on Tuesday, May 3:
- 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in MAC 206. The public is invited to learn about the NEW Veterans Treatment Court, a new program in the community. Students in course Program Evaluation class will share their experiences conducting a formative evaluation of the Court. Students observed the court, interviewed veterans and constructed surveys and methods to comprehensively evaluate the program.
- 4 to 5 p.m. in Christie Theatre. Students in the course, Strategic Philanthropy: Civic Engagement by Giving, will announce this year’s recipient(s) of their $10,000 Learning by Giving grant. The first student philanthropy course begun in Wisconsin, this is the fourth year of the class, bringing total amount donated to $45,000 since 2012. Students have requested proposals to fund programs that incorporate the arts to grow literacy and love of reading among young children. They conducted site visits to their finalists, including schools and nonprofits that serve Green Bay’s high need neighborhoods. Students will lead the ceremony.
